Green Project 2020

Inner Wheel Club of Petaling Jaya

21 January 2020

The Inner Wheel Club of Petaling Jaya organised a Green Project at Taman Tugu Forest Park, Kuala Lumpur on 21 Jan 2020.  The Club also incorporated a community service project by sponsoring 30 refugee students from Fugee School to participate and enjoy the experience.

The programme emphasises on appreciation of nature and environmental education as well as replicating what was learnt in sustaining initiatives to preserve the environment.

The half-day programme started at 8:00 a.m. and ended after a scrumptious lunch in the Park, activities included:

  1. an outdoor education and awareness programme to preserve the environment.
  2. a hands-on activity for the members and students on learning how to plant seedlings.
  3. a forest trail guided walk.
  4. fellowship amongst the Club members and students over breakfast and lunch.

It was an honour to have the participation of International Inner Wheel President Phyllis Charter, District Chairman Padmini Menon and National Representative Juanita Lee in all the activities.

The Fugee School children also took back polybags with planted seedlings to be cared for by the students and their peers at the school's nursery until they are matured enough to be planted at suitable sites. The planting of the matured seedlings will also be organised by IWCPJ in the near future. This emphasises the "replicating" and "sustaining" elements of the project.
