On 19 December 2020, IWC Kuala Lumpur North collaborated with an NGO, “Project MADE”. Make A Difference Everywhere or MADE provided groceries and goodies to 100 Indian underprivileged families in Sabak Bernam, Selangor.

IWC KL North has been collaborating with the NGO “Project MADE” for the past 11 years, an initiative by President Diana Wong. This NGO provides groceries to deserving poor families prior to the festival of Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Deepavali. Every year, Puan Aini of Project MADE will source for families in the interiors of and around Selangor to bring cheer to deserving poor families by providing groceries to them during their festival.

This year, we did not get to do the project prior to Deepavali as there were restrictions on travel due to MCO. Therefore, we had this project after Deepavali on 19 December 2020.

Six dedicated members of IWC KL North travelled for 2 hours to join in this worthwhile project to lend a helping hand at SRJK (T) Ladang Sabak Bernam. The provision includes rice, egg, Maggie Mee, cooking oil, sugar, milk, canned food, biscuits and toiletries.

Apart from providing the groceries, we organised a bazaar called “Bazaar Gratis” whereby we gave away pre-loved clothes to these 100 families, comprising mostly of sarees, punjabi costumes, shoes and handbags.   The recipients were indeed grateful and very thankful for this kind gesture of providing food and clothing to them.

The day ended with members adjourning to a well-deserved, sumptuous seafood lunch and fellowship at Tien Yin Seafood restaurant at Sabak Bernam, Selangor.
