The rippling effect of the COVID-19 pandemic is still being felt, although Selangor is in Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

This month, IWC of Subang received a SOS alert that 20 residents in Sutramas Apartment in Puchong are without basic food stuff, namely rice, oil, sugar, etc. Simultaneously, there was an alert from the Sai Ananda Foundation that 100 Myanmar refugee families are without these daily essentials.

IWC of Subang President Indira Menon, reached out to friends who graciously sponsored the groceries and foodstuff needed to help these B40 families, some of whom had not received any help before this.

The words of one of the recipients, “Oh…sister… Thank you sooo much.  I just received the provisions this morning…”,  certainly brought a lot of joy to the Club members.

Another benevolent sponsor was Tan Sri Gnanalingam.  IPP Shanty Chandran used his contribution to buy provisions for 25 families at the Mentari Apartments, which would see them through for a month or so.

By using retailers to handle the supplies, IWC of Subang managed to ensure contactless delivery which was done seamlessly.

It is hoped that with the dwindling COVID-19 numbers, the nation’s economy will improve and people who have lost their jobs will be gainfully employed soon.
