On 16th October 2021, the Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth (IWC BW) launched its Deepavali Projects by sponsoring lunch of chicken curry and two vegetables; distributing brand new clothes, goody bags and also ‘angpow’ packets much to the delight of the children residing at Peace Children’s Care Centre in Penang (PCCC).

President Santhi Sundra and Past President Lucy Barrock, representing IWC BW, distributed the clothes and the goody bags respectively. Each bag contained packets of milk, cookies, chocolates, diwali goodies (palaharams), brand new clothes, toys, colouring and story books, stationery sets and money packets (ang pow) worth RM10 per child to the 14 children of PCCC after the delectable home cooked lunch paid for by the Club. Bottles of hand sanitiser and 250 pieces of face masks were also given over to PCCC’s Chairman Mr Alagesan Ayaru, for the use of the children.

The deepavali clothes were all sponsored by Mr Kalidas Komarawelo of Mata Amritanandamayi Georgetown Centre, Penang while IWC BW members were happy to contribute in cash and kind for the rest of the items. This was a worthy cause indeed so members of IWC BW and Mr Kalidas were glad for the opportunity to bring cheer to the needy especially children, during deepavali, the Festival of Lights. The children of PCCC were very happy indeed, judging from the smiles on their faces and their squeals of delight as they received their gifts.
