Bringing Deepavali cheer to three homes
Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur North
24 October 2021
The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur North (IWC KLN) brought cheer to three homes by providing lunch, provisions and Deepavali goodies.
Two of the homes are managed by the Divine Life Society, Kuala Lumpur. The Sivananda Home is at Batu Caves and it houses 13 boys, and 15 girls are housed in Kuala Kubu Baru. Some of the children come from single- parent homes, while others are under the care of guardians.
Members of IWC KLN donated RM500.00 to the Divine Life Society so that children in both the homes can enjoy a sumptuous lunch. Since the Divine Life Society prepares only vegetarian meals for the homes under its care, the Club’s offer to purchase the food was politely turned down due to quality control and assurance of the right menu purposes. Members of IWC KLN, Saro and Meenachi, represented the Club to hand over the cheque to the Society. Apart from the lunch treat, Deepavali goodies, like muruku and cookies, were given, much to the delight of the children.
The third home that IWC KLN donated to was Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam in Ulu Kelang. This home requested groceries, such as Milo, cordial drinks, curry powder mix and other condiments for meal preparation. Club member, Nallama purchased these items worth RM354.50 to hand over to the Anbu Illam Home.
It is specifically during festival times that children in Homes look out for something different, and IWC KLN was happy to make timely contributions to these three Homes.
May the children continue to be helped so that they can feel that society does care for them and they can continue to enjoy little perks in their life from time to time.
