It was a heart-warming day on 2 November 2021 when the Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar finally managed to carry out a project which had to be put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions imposed on travel and movement.

As done in the past, members of IWC AS wanted to sponsor a meal for the patrons of the Soup Kitchen in Alor Setar, and the occasion presented itself on 2 November 2021 after the travel restrictions were lifted. What was even more special was that it was two days to the Festival of Lights and 11 members made cash donations to cover the cost of preparing a special meal for 153 regulars, while member Ruby decided to spice things up by including a deliciously red and juicy Fuji apple as dessert, a treat that the patrons only get to enjoy once in a while.

Staff members were happy to take a break to rest their tired feet while IWC AS took over the task of distributing the packed meals to the patrons. Some of them smiled with pleasure as they recognised the

IWC AS team in spite of the face masks, their delight being augmented by that juicy red apple.

It takes so little to make people happy and IWC AS was elated that a simple act of kindness brought joy to the Soup Kitchen patrons. Some of them even mentioned that they are truly happy that charitable organisations take the trouble to step out of their comfort zones to help. The team assured them that it was really the pleasure of the Club to help and members had no qualms reassuring them that the team would be back to serve them again soon.
