On 23 November 2021, Webmaster Lucy Barrock and District Editor Padmini, jointly held the second virtual meeting with the Club Correspondents (CCs). Basically, this meeting was a refresher briefing of sorts, to update the CCs on latest developments vis-à-vis website and social media requirements.
These included the proper use of news reporting templates and the subtle art of photography to ensure all photos submitted adhered to the standard operating procedures of social distancing and wearing masks as these were still in force. Further, the CCs were reminded to select and save their best photographs for inclusion in the 2021-2022 Newslink issue.
Once the formalities were out of the way, CCs had a field day asking questions and clearing doubts, which Lucy and Padmini managed to address quite adroitly. To a question from Lena, CC of IWCKL on the maximum number of photos that can accompany each news report, Lucy smiled in response as she said, “Choose the photos which speak the loudest”.
Before bringing the Meeting to a close, it was decided that two special training sessions be held on the use of PowerPoint as well as the various applications that could be availed whilst using one’s handphone. Vidhya, CC from IWC Ipoh literally had the CCs in wonder as she gave a sneak peek into the world of the various IT apps.
This was the second Meeting of CCs in five months and going by the enthusiasm of the CCs in sharing ideas, it will definitely not be the last meet for the 2021-2022 term.
