It was heart breaking for Malaysians including members of the Inner Wheel Club of Subang Selangor (IWC SS) to see the devastation that hit their state as a result of the non-stop heavy showers for 3 days.  The water level rose to the roof of the first storey of most homes in Taman Sri Muda and Shah Alam areas. Homes there lost most of their belongings and some even lost their loved ones. Citizens got together to help ferry them to safe grounds. Some went ahead to prepare humble hot meals for the victims.  The support given by the Malaysian public was an awe-inspiring and sobering experience.

IWCSS’ members individually rose to the needs of victims in their nearby localities to provide foodstuff and sanitary needs.  As the rain stopped and the water subsided, members helped out in the cleaning of homes, schools and community halls.

However, an appeal came from Ms. Uma Nanthini of Persatuan Wanita Lenna Selangor for flood victims in Dengkil.  The Club then channelled funds to this organisation to provide basic toiletries, blankets, pillows and household stuff.

There was so much of chaos yet the human endurance continued to prevail.
