Adopting the call of International Inner Wheel President Ebe Martines, on cervical cancer awareness amongst women and girls, the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) had the pleasure of inviting Professor Dr. Woo Yin Ling to give a talk on this third most common malignancy in women worldwide, during our General Meeting.
Dr Woo comes with impressive credentials.
A consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, she and her team are the driving force behind Program ROSE, which introduces a revolutionary approach to cervical cancer screening. Dr Woo stressed that 93% of cervical cancers are preventable with the help of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination as well as HPV tests. Engaging, yet informative, she kept all 30 IWCKL members agog with her concise explanation.
To celebrate International Inner Wheel Day, Dr Woo gamely came in a striking sarung, so as not to be outdone by the members, many beautifully garbed in traditional attire.
All in all, it was a good start to 2022, and may all Inner Wheel Clubs reach greater heights.
