Medical camp and cancer screening
Inner Wheel Club of Klang
20 February 2022
International Inner Wheel Day which falls on 10th of January is a special day for all Inner Wheel members the world over as it marks the formation of their organisation. Celebrations take place in a myriad of ways. The theme for 2021-2022 – “PINK FIRST”; STRONG WOMEN, STRONGER WORLD (WOMEN HELPING WOMEN) encourages Inner Wheel clubs and districts in many countries to take part in a wide range of work for charities and causes with the aim of helping women and girls lead better lives.
The Inner Wheel Club of Klang in collaboration with Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah and the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, organized a Medical Camp with Cancer Screening for underprivileged women and girls for free. The response was overwhelming and the Club was able to successfully conduct free screening for 100 ladies.
Tests that were conducted included General Health screening, Cataract, Cervical Cancer screening, Pap Smear, Breast Cancer and Hepatitis tests. All the ladies who undertook the tests were grateful for the free testing as these tests can be expensive especially if done at private clinics and hospitals.
Members spared no effort in taking on tasks such as coordinating with Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, National Cancer Society, doctors and nurses in preparation for the event. Google form registration, also e-banner and promotion of the event via social media were all undertaken with much enthusiasm.
Other tasks undertaken included the preparation of door gifts and getting the hall organized the day before the event. More importantly, managing the registration, crowd control, and ensuring a smooth process flow on the day of the event.
President Krisnavani in her address, thanked all members, doctors and nurses who helped turn the event into a successful and memorable project for term 2021/2022.
