On 28th March 2022, President Santhi Sundara, Secretary Dr Jayashri Nerali and Past President (PP) Lucy Barrock of the Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth (IWC Butterworth) paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister II of Penang State, Dr P. Ramasamy. The visit was facilitated by Club Well-Wishers Mr Gunasegaran Ramiah and Mr Thanabalan Nandakumar.

President Santhi, Dr Jayashri and PP Lucy went bearing a fruit and flower basket and a portfolio of the three-year-old Club’s activities to date. The visit served to introduce the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister to International Inner Wheel (IIW) as an organisation and to IWC Butterworth in particular.

The aim of the current club leadership is to collaborate with Dr Ramasamy’s office and serve the Community in Seberang Perai which is the Geographical area of location of IWC Butterworth. The Honourable Deputy Chief Minister was gracious in his reception of the ladies and requested for more information pertaining to the Club’s status and activities which were immediately acted upon by the Club members present.

The ladies next paid a courtesy call on Datuk M Ramachandran of the Penang Hindu Endowment Board. Datuk Ramachandran had been an invited guest at IWC Butterworth’s Charter Installation in 2019. They discussed current affairs with Datuk Rama as he is affectionately known over coffee.

IWC Butterworth with President Santhi at the helm has reached new heights of achievements and hopes to do much more for the local community especially for the well-being of women and children. The club is in the process of recruiting more new members both young and more mature under the banner of Inner Wheel to achieve IIW’s aims of promoting true friendship, encouraging the ideals of personal service and fostering international understanding.
