On 27th March 2022, Inner Wheel District 330 held a virtual meeting of the District Committee comprising the District Executive Committee (District Exco) and Clubs’ Voting Delegates. Also present were Observers from Inner Wheel Clubs (IWCs) in the District, thus bringing the total number of attendees at the meeting to over eighty. The aim of the meeting was to elect its District Executive Committee for Inner Wheel Year (IWY) 2022-2023.
District Secretary Kamala Yeap did the roll call of clubs after which the minutes of the previous meeting were passed. In her speech, District Chairman (DC) Datin Shamini Nair made an impassioned plea for Inner Wheel members to value friendship above all else and not get manipulated by greed or divisive elements. She was grateful to have visited all clubs under her charge albeit mostly virtually.
She also offered her observations as to why some ‘next generation’ clubs have failed to survive. She felt that Introducing-Clubs or Mother-Clubs and the District Extension team have a greater role to play in ensuring that these clubs stay alive and thrive.
Datin Shamini touched on continuity in clubs and urged Inner Wheel members to throw their support behind their respective Club Presidents especially those that initiate projects and raise funds. This would also create solidarity and set up a good foundation for strong club executive committees to take over and function in the future.
National Representative (NR) of Districts 330 and 331, Ambika Menon announced that the NR of IWY 2022-23 for Districts 330 and 331 will be Nany Gotze of IWC Singapore West, while Parimala Satheesan of IWC Subang Selangor, has been elected for a second term as Deputy NR. The nominee from Districts 330 and 331 for International Inner Wheel (IIW) Board Director 2023-24 is Juanita Lee of IWC Kuala Lumpur. She also commended IIW Board Director Datin Seetha Lakshmi and IIW Editor/ Media Manager Cheng Yeok San for their contributions to Inner Wheel and for keeping District 330’s flag flying during IWY 2021-22.
DC Datin Shamini then set things in motion for the elections and the results of the incoming District Exco. Once this was over, District Vice-Chairman Krishnaveni Mutthiah who is the incoming District Chairman welcomed the District Exco line-up for IWY 2022-23 as follows:

District International Service Organiser: Catherine Thenagaran (IWC KLCC)
District Editor: Jillian Estrop (IWC Penang)
District Webmaster: Lucy Barrock (IWC Butterworth)
She announced that as her first act, she would be setting up training sessions for all incoming Club Executive Committee members.
The Meeting came to a close as congratulations poured in over the chat room for the incoming District Exco.
The remaining few months of IWY 2021-22 will see handovers and loose ends of projects being tied up, also reports being handed in. Inner Wheel District 330 has made great strides in the current term despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the attendant restrictions.
