Immediate Past District Chairman Shanti Menon, District Extension Organiser Peggy Lee and Past National Representative of Districts 330 & 331 Juanita Lee made a long-awaited goodwill visit to the Inner Wheel Clubs in Penang on 21st June 2022. There had been barely any physical meetings between District Officers and Clubs thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant lockdowns and restrictions.

The three ladies were hosted to breakfast, lunch and dinner by three of the clubs in Penang. They started their day with a breakfast meeting with the lovely ladies of the Inner Wheel Club of Pearl of the Orient, Penang. The meeting went well and the ladies were treated to some of the more popular breakfast food in the state which is on the list of Time Magazine’s ten ‘must-visit’ islands in the world.

The ladies next met up with members of the Inner Wheel Club of Penang, over lunch at a popular Indian Restaurant, Karaikudi. They exchanged views with President Arvind and her team before heading back to their hotel.

Their final meeting of the day was with President Santhi Sundara, Secretary Jaya Nerali and District Webmaster Lucy Barrock of the Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth who came bearing a rose for each of them. They then sat down to discussions over dinner at Mantra Restaurant in Bayview Hotel, Georgetown.

Treasurer Geertanaa of the Inner Wheel Club of Azul also joined in the discussions much to everyone’s delight. They discussed a wide range of issues including methods of setting up new clubs and keeping them healthy for the long term.

It was a fruitful trip for the three District stalwarts who imparted much knowledge to the clubs due to their experience and long years of service in Inner Wheel. The Clubs on their part appreciated the visit and were happy to welcome the ladies and renew ties with them physically after a long time.
