The United Nation’s Summit in New York embarked on the 2030 Agenda for global Sustainable Development with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and integrating 169 associated targets. Building on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2000, the 2030 Agenda strives to support developments based on three sustainable pillars – Society, Environment and Economy, to achieve UN’s target by 2030 so that nobody is left behind.
All countries and stakeholders such as governments, corporate bodies, NGOs and individuals in collaborative partnership will oversee the implementation of these goals with the focus on prosperity and peace for humankind, our planet and all beings therein.
With Work Wonders as the International Inner Wheel theme, IW District 330 can and should partake and foster these UN's SDGs within our social projects so we can take transformative steps to consistently shift as part of our effort to sustain and develop the world. Dr. Sree Kala, a Senior Lecturer from Taylor’s University and also Club Secretary of the Inner Wheel Club of Klang explained each of the 17 SDGs detailing how Inner Wheel clubs can recognise these SDGs within their social projects. A total of 22 members from various clubs attended the informative talk.
IWC Klang has plans to “Work Wonders” to support the UN SDGs in sustaining the planet and all its people. The Club will be going all out to prove this in the coming months.
