The Inner Wheel Club of Taiping (IWC Taiping) embarked on a new project on 29th Sept 2022, ‘Baking with Inner Wheel Club of Taiping’ at Sekolah Semangat Maju (school for differently abled children). IWC Taiping has been helping the school since 1995 with various fund-raising projects.
The club Treasurer Harbajan Kaur headed the project by conducting a live baking demonstration of marble cake to the students and staff. Cooking with children having autism provides the opportunity to work on a variety of skills e.g., learning nutritional values, applying maths, listening, sequencing etc.
On behalf of the club, IWC Taiping’s President Harvinder Kaur donated an oven and hand mixers to the school. The students and staff were very impressed and pleased to learn new skills.
Harbajan, an ardent home baker, promised to return to demonstrate how to make chocolate chip cookies. The students, staff and IWC members were served a light breakfast and the delicious cake.
Everyone had satisfactory morning, knowing life is what you ‘bake’ of it.
