A Glam and Bling Deepavali Night
Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar
28 October 2022
The Festival of Lights or Deepavali is a time for feasting, prayers and fireworks. Celebrants decorate their homes with oil lamps or diyas, rangoli and other embellishments to symbolise the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
The home of member Saratha did not disappoint. It was tastefully decorated with diyas and rangoli, as the Hindu members of IWC AS hosted a Deepavali Festive Night here on 28 October 2022.
This event was not an ordinary soirée. With the theme, GLAM n BLING, members and guests arrived, adorned in their festive best, and were quickly immersed into the spirit of the season. The evening showcased a resplendent kaleidoscope of colours, with every combination of sequins, tassels, bindis and shimmer.
Deepavali is certainly not a season to mind calories or fast. It is a haven for food lovers as IWC AS members are well-known to be and a magnificent spread was laid out for everyone to partake in with guilt-free indulgence.
Once everyone had had a lip-smacking fill of briyani, idli, capati, stringhoppers, and all the accompanying condiments, President TZ and Members Jeet and Pat took charge of a round of three games, which saw members having a rib-tickling time, as they balanced biscuits precariously on their foreheads, passed the parcel and rummaged furiously into handbags during the scavenger hunt game.
It was then lucky draw time and every member was happy to receive a gift as the perfect remembrance of a perfect day.
By the end of the night, members and guests wanted for only one thing: the promise that IWC AS would continue to bring joy, laughter and camaraderie, like it had done on this night of GLAM and BLING.
