Relaunch of Desa Wawasan Tuition Project

On Saturday, 5th November 20222, the Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth (IWC Butterworth) yet another project for children from 4-6pm. The Club represented by twelve members, held a Children’s Day Party in collaboration with MPKK Taman Sri Rambai Fasa 1 under the Chairmanship of Mr Yoganraj Thever, and the Residents’ Association of the Desa Wawasan Flats for fifty primary schoolchildren who stay at the Flats in Bukit Mertajam.

 

Almost sixty children were registered for the club’s English Tuition-project which has been revamped and repackaged in modular form by Project-lead Madam Sellam Murugiah. The tuitions which were conducted on a weekly basis earlier had to be discontinued due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The Guest of Honour was the Honourable (YB) Penang State Legislative Assemblywoman for Padang Lalang Madam Chong Eng, who took precious time off on Nomination Day for the Malaysian General Elections to grace the function. President Datin Santhi Sundara in her welcome address stressed on the importance of mastering the English language in today’s world.

 

Puan Sellam Murugiah then did a visual presentation of the syllabus she has prepared and engaged the children expertly in her usual confident and friendly manner. YB Chong Eng in her speech, encouraged the children to seize the opportunity the tuitions presented, to study diligently and also promised them a trip to the Dinosaur-Exhibition at KOMTAR in Penang if they performed well in their examinations.

 

Next on the agenda was cutting of a ‘Work Wonders’ themed cake with YB Chong Eng and Mr Yoganraj Thever for members of IWC Butterworth. The children were entertained by a Clown and given Goody-bags of stationery and such courtesy of IWC Butterworth.

 

They also enjoyed the teatime snacks of Malaysian favourites such as puffs, varieties of noodles and cakes sponsored by MPKK Taman Sri Rambai Fasa 1. Madam Chong Eng who joined in the food and fun was presented with a fruit-basket courtesy President Datin Santhi.

 

Everyone was gratified by the happy faces of the children who obviously enjoyed themselves thoroughly. IWC Butterworth is embracing projects for women and children inline with International Inner Wheel’s focus and aspired to do more for the poor and marginalised in its area of operations in Seberang Perai.
