6 members from IWCSS attended a free two-hour CPR and AED course conducted by St. John’s Ambulance on the 28th of November. Learning how to respond appropriately to someone who has stopped breathing must definitely be on top of everyone’s list. Just knowing the basics of CPR and how to use an external defibrillator until medical help arrives can save lives. A certification course in First Aid would be ideal, but if cost is a factor, then this 2 hour course provides one with the ‘know how’ to respond in an emergency. AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a small and easy to use device that many developed countries have installed in public places for easy access. It was good to know that in Malaysia Penang has the largest number with big corporations like Sunway leading the way in the Klang Valley. Those who attended were a little apprehensive at first but with voices of support, everyone gave it their best.
