Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL), District 330 - WIW Day Celebration and General Meeting
Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur
5 January 2023
On the 5th January 2023 the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) held its 6th General Meeting at the Royal Selangor Club, Bukit Kiara, Malaysia. It was in conjunction with the District Chairman’s official visit to the Club and also to celebrate World Inner Wheel Day (WIW Day). Most members and guests were dressed in kimono, yukata or Japanese related attire. The Japanese theme was aptly chosen to celebrate WIW Day cum World Peace Day. The Hall and table settings were beautifully decorated to reflect the theme.
The VIP guests from District 330 were District Chairman (DC) Krishnaveni Mutthiah, VDC Kamala Yeap and National Representative of Districts 330 & 331 Parimala Satheesan. Earlier, the Committee had a fruitful discussion at lunch with the DC. Honorary Member Toh Puan Aishah Ong joined in the fellowship. Present were 60 members and guests.
A photo of the Peace Bell was on display. The Bell is a symbol of Hope for peace. It became a tradition that on International Day of Peace the United Nation Secretary General rings the bell to pray for World Peace. As members celebrate World Inner Wheel Day, they must remember how important it is for everyone to devote themselves to strengthening the ideal of peace among all nations and people. What the world needs today is peace!
This year, IWCKL’s WIW Day celebration was extra eventful as it included the Group induction of 7 new members; Group presentation of Financial Aids to 3 schools; Talk on Nordic Walk by Puan Sri Siew Toh Ee with a demonstration by the Nordic walkers.
The 3 school who received financial aid were:
1) SMK Vivekananda. Brickfields Kuala Lumpur
2) SMK (Perempuan) Pudu, Kuala Lumpur
3) SMK Jinjang, Jinjang Utara.
Nordic Walk UK/NWMsia is a group that brings together local Nordic walking enthusiasts keen to pursue the exercise and make it part of their fitness regime. Founded by PS Siew Toh Ee in Nov 2015. It has a 2-pronged purpose: giving back to people and to cultivate healthier lifestyle among Malaysians.
Everyone enjoyed the sumptuous Hi- tea with Japanese food and fellowship. IWC KL wished all Inner Wheel Members a Happy WIW Day on 10th January!
