The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur City Centre (IWC KLCC) celebrated World Inner Wheel Day 2023 (WIWD 2023) by bringing together 14 clubs in District 330 and hosting a Friendship cum Fellowship Day at the Royale Chulan Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on January 8, 2023. The theme of the day was ‘Ethnic’ and everyone was dressed in many different kinds of ethnic wear. The Guest of Honour was District Chairman (DC) Krishnaveni Mutthiah who was welcomed to the event with an ethnic dance as an opening performance by the Era Performing Arts Dancers.

The highlight of the day was organized by District International Service Organiser (DISO) Catherine Thenagaran who is a member of Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur City Centre which had ISOs of the different clubs parade in their colourful ethnic wear while DISO Catherine beautifully explained their chosen ethnic attire. The audience was mesmerized and wowed by the stunning showmanship of the ladies on stage.

The clubs who participated were Inner Wheel Club of Bangsar, Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth, Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh, Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East, Inner Wheel Club of IORAS, Inner Wheel Club of Johor Bahru, Inner Wheel Club of Kuantan/Indera Mahkota, Inner Wheel Club of Klang, Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur, Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur North, Inner Wheel Club of Pearl of the Orient, Penang; Inner Wheel Club of Selangor and Inner Wheel Club of Petaling Jaya. The members of the clubs came attired in beautiful ethnic wear. The ballroom came alive as all the club members made their way into the room creating a splash of colour. They came in Chongsams, Kebayas, Sarees and Punjabi suits to name a few.

Of course, Loyal Toasts were read out and there was the lighting of the candle of friendship by DC Veni as she is popularly known while Inner Wheel members stood and recited the Friendship poem. President Karen Loo of IWC KLCC gave her welcoming speech. There was also cake cutting by DC Veni accompanied by President Karen, District Extension Chairman Datin Pearl Jai Mohan, DISO Catherine and District Advisor Datin Seetha Lakshmi. The members enjoyed the sumptuous lunch as they were entertained by Daphne and Monica to an array of oldies.

The entertainment continued through the afternoon. Ms Sheena from Inner Wheel Club of Johor Bahru and Ms Megha of the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur North performed a vibrant ethnic dance. Members were then once again entertained by the Era Dancers.

There was a lucky draw too and the winners were delighted with their prizes which comprised of electrical appliances. The event which continued until 3pm was a great get-together of clubs in the District and a truly memorable one after the COVID-19 Pandemic.
