Nutrition Workshop Project at Government Hospital Ampang

The 4th of October saw a joint project between Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur City Centre (IWC KLCC) and Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur North (IWC KL North) in collaboration with several departments of the Ampang Government Hospital come to fruition. The Paediatric Dietetics as well as Obstetrics and Gynaecology Departments of the hospital also took part in the event. Thirty paediatric participants and their parents were given talks.
IWC KLCC was represented by President Karen Loo, DISO Katherine Thenagaran, Secretary Norsaliza Nazir and IWC KL North by Past President Diana Wong. RM 500 was contributed by each club for the Nutrition Workshop Project.
After the welcome address by the Deputy Director of the hospital, topics on diet related issues of children were discussed with a hands-on session on feeding techniques to tackle fussy eaters by the Paediatric Dietician and the Occupational Therapist.
During the intermission, a video on nutrition and easy recipes was played for the benefit of parents. To the delight of not only the children but adults as well, a clown was engaged for entertainment.
Participants were also given two packed meals of breakfast and lunch. There was a Q&A session for participants to clear their doubts and further enhance their knowledge.
It was a successful project and the hospital administration hoped that there would be more such projects in the future to create an awareness among parents. The participating clubs were glad that the joint project was successfully organised and executed.
