Mangrove restoration

On the 25th of February 2023, Kelab Inner Wheel Johor Bahru was at Tanjung Piai for Mangrove Restoration Project let by Vice President Amy Nair. The theme was set for us by Vice President Amy Nair “Lets root for each other and watch each other grow”.
The officers in charge briefed us how the Mangrove planting works, the species, the importance and how we can play a part in preserving the environment. This helped us stay connected with our mission that day.
The project started off with planting the seedlings into small bags and then planting it into the soil. We were given boots because the planting was done in a muddy Mangrove soil. It was really interesting losing balance on the mud, dirtying our hands and to have a life planted on earth. We had opportunity to name the seedlings and not reveal the secret name. 😊. We manage to plant about 32 plants.
There was a session for us to clean up the Mangrove area. The total rubbish collection was 25kg. We were proud of contributing our part to the environment.
Organizers prepared for us certificates for our Team work done that day. The event ended with lots of smiles and satisfaction in our hearts, as the saying “To plant a seed is to believe in tomorrow”.
