President Zenaida (Zeny) Farcon of International Inner Wheel flew in to Kuala Lumpur with District 330’s Chairman Krishnaveni (Veni) Mutthiah and members of the District Executive Committee on 5th March 2023. The ladies had spent three days and two nights in lovely scenic Langkawi for International Women’s Day Celebrations.

This was the last leg of President Zeny’s visit to Malaysia and the District Executive Committee decided to celebrate the occasion with a dinner in her honour at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort in Kuala Lumpur. Earlier in the day, members of the Inner Wheel Club of Klang led by President Dr Theyveeka Selvy Rajoo had organised a couple of Hospital visits for President Zeny to spend time with breast cancer patients and distribute Ensure Milk powder to them which was a very moving experience for both the Inner Wheel members present and the cancer patients alike.

There were just forty attendees for the dinner which included two gentlemen who are great supporters of Inner Wheel, namely Datuk Dr Lechumanan District 330’s Advisor Datin Seetha Lakshmi’s husband and Captain Ramachandran, the husband of DC Veni. Most of the members of the District Committee made it to the event which was a very intimate affair considering the numbers and the venue.

Attendees included past District Chairmen and National Representatives, Past IIW and District Officers as well as Club officers past and present who are based in the Klang Valley.

President Zeny and Chairman Veni gave short yet meaningful addresses before dinner was served. There was also a book presentation to the International President from a member of District 331 via Immediate Past National Representative of Districts 330 and 331, Ambika Panicker Menon.

After the sumptuous dinner, it was time to party and the entertainment took off with Daphne Forbes, daughter in law of District International Service Organiser Catherine Govindaraju, singing catchy tunes from yesteryears. The ladies let their hair down and there was no looking back from the dance numbers after that. President Zeny and Chairman Veni were in the thick of things as well.

There was even an impromptu fashion show in lieu of a fundraiser, the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur was organising. The ladies gamely modelled some of the types of blouses which would be sold for RM10 only and there was much enthusiastic cheering both for the garments and the models.

There was also a karaoke session and President Zeny too sang a couple of songs. PNR Ambika sang a popular Filipino ballad which was very well received indeed. Other singers also took everyone’s breath away with their talent.

Photos were taken and fond memories stored away. It was a lovely evening of fellowship for everyone and President Zeny left the next day for the next leg of her journey as International Inner Wheel’s President for 2022-2023.
