Cheque Presentation to the Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA)

On 21 June 2023, President Jinny Lum, Honorary Member YAB Toh Puan Aishah Ong and their team of members from the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) visited the MMHA and Wellness Centre. They were welcomed by MMHA President Datuk Dr. Andrew Mohanraj, Past President of MMHA Datin Dr. Ang, Past President Mr. See and the Staff of MMHA.
Datuk Dr Andrew delivered a welcome speech. In his speech, he updated the members of the Wellness and Recovery Programme. The trial course is now in progress. However, the costs and duration of the course have yet to be determined. The course focuses on Peer Counselling, Illness Management and Recovery, and also a Wellness and Recovery Action Plan.
Next, the President of IWCKL gave a brief speech, followed by a Cheque Presentation of RM10,000 which came from a generous donor within IWCKL. This will go towards the furnishing of the MMHA’s new hostel which will be able to house male and female patients. Our donor gave another RM5,000 which was transferred to MMHA a few days later.
A painting was donated by the IWCKL, and President Jinny presented it to MMHA for their new building.
The guests were treated to a sumptuous lunch sponsored so kindly by Past President Mr. See. After lunch, we were taken on a short tour of the new hostel. The hostel was not in operation yet because the building is yet to be completed.
IWCKL is glad this Project received overwhelming support from the members. Truly IWCKL does “work wonders”.
