National Short Film Competition Award Ceremony

Claz’room College Kuala Lumpur announced the success of the National High School Short Film Competition on 12 September 2023. This prestigious event which concluded with a Grand Award Ceremony graced by YB Datuk Kamil Othman, Chairman of National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS) who was one of the distinguished judges of the competition. The ceremony showcased the talent of Malaysian High School students aged 14 to 18, with participation from over 40 groups.
The judging panel, consisting of YB Datuk Kamil Othman, Mr Yoon Choong Yul, a world-renowned Movie VFX Director from South Korea, and Director of Show VFX Studio Malaysia To’ Puan Lam Lee Pin from Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (“IWCKL”). Ms Tung Yan Ning, Managing Director of Claz’room, and Mr Ng Kim Boon, Faculty Lead for Film Visual Effects.
The event was a joyous occasion where awards were presented to outstanding individuals and groups. Winners spanning 7 categories won scholarships worth over RM120,000 and cash prize items worth over RM15,000.
Claz’room College teamed up with IWCKL, the largest and one of the oldest women’s charity organisation in Malaysia, to set up the theme as “Giving”. IWCKL President Rani and her Committee Members were present to give their support. The competition provided a platform for upcoming filmmakers to showcase their creativity and passion for the cinematic arts. IWCKL and Claz’room believe in nurturing the next generation of filmmakers and the competition highlighted the wealth of talent potential that exists amongst young Malaysians.
