It was a joy to see 25 excited primary school children from the SJKT Ladang Getah Taiping, Trong , Perak were treated to a fun-filled visit to the Taiping Zoo and Safari Park, on 13th September 2023. The students accompanied by three school teachers were greeted by President Harbajan Kaur, PP Harvinder Kaur, Treasurer J.Saraswathy, ISO/CC K. Viji, members Doris Cheah, G.Pushpa and Jezznip Kaur.
The day started with the children being treated to a light breakfast and briefed to prepare for a short quiz and essay competition after the trip. This is a first trip for most students. The only Zoo in the Northern Region of Peninsular Malaysia, it houses 1300 species of animals.
As the tram ferried the children around the Zoo, the children's excitement reverberated in the air, seeing the lions, tigers, elephant, graceful swans, giraffes and many more animals. Even the IWC members could not contain the excitement and deep sense of satisfaction of seeing the happy, smiling faces of the children. After the tram ride, the children were given an hour to explore the Zoo on foot accompanied by their teachers.
At the end of the visit, a quiz and essay writing competition was held and prizes were given. All the students were also given goodie bags prepared by members PP Karamjeet Kaur and PP Harvinder Kaur. This was followed by a sumptuous lunch.
President Harbajan also thanked the donors, the school and club members who made this trip possible and memorable.
In accordance with the theme Shine a Light, IWC Taiping has given the children an out-of-textbook experience and enhanced their knowledge of nature and animals.
