IWC AS CELEBRATES MALAYSIA DAY
Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar
16 Sep 2023
Nestled amidst Alor Setar’s modernity is a hidden gem - the traditional kampung-style home of Dr. Rosni, Vice President of IWC AS. It was in this charming and quaint home that on the eve of Malaysia Day, i.e., 15 September, IWC AS members gathered to produce a video to pay homage to the rich heritage and tapestry of Malaysian culture, including among other things, the attire, the food and the traditional open house.
The evening was filled with excitement as members arrived, dressed in their fine attire in vibrant colours and looking resplendent, from the baju kurung, to the baju kebaya, saree, churidar, lengha, cheong sam and the baju Kedah. What added to the fervent feeling of patriotism was a bunga raya, the national flower adorning their hair.
Members arrived, one by one, bearing gifts of food, and Dr. Rosni, the ever-gracious host, welcomed them with open arms. Soon, her kampung-style home exuded warmth and nostalgia, with its wooden beams, thatched roof, twinkling lights and a beautifully decorated veranda and staircase.
Against this backdrop, the members waved the Malaysian flag as Dr. Rosni and Padmini proudly held the IWC AS banner while singing along with the AKU NEGARA KU song.
A culinary journey through Malaysia's diverse food flavors greeted the members after this and everyone’s taste buds danced with delight as they savoured a huge variety of dishes, including ‘kuih’ and desserts. After the feast, the members sat around the living room, talking and laughing and enjoying each other’s company – it was a moment of connection, where everyone’s lives intertwined, and the bonds of friendship and fellowship grew stronger, in true Inner Wheel fashion and spirit.
As the day came to a close, the members felt a deep sense of gratitude. They were celebrating Malaysia Day in the most meaningful way - a reminder of how important it is to preserve Malaysia’s heritage and come together to celebrate this beautiful country.
