Breast Cancer Awareness Month, In Conjunction of Pink October 2023
Inner Wheel is an international women’s organisation to create friendship, service and understanding. The theme for 2023-2024 – is “Shine a Light”, STRONG WOMEN, STRONGER WORLD (WOMEN HELPING WOMEN). Inner Wheel clubs take part in a wide range of work for charities and causes across the country with the aim of helping women and young girls live better lives. One of the causes is breast cancer, which is a problem that affects almost everyone no matter what walk of life they are from. It brings pain, anguish and poverty to millions of people each and every year. Fighting breast cancer and helping treat those affected is one of our priorities. Through our work, we endeavor to educate and prepare communities in order to help them prevent and treat life-changing and life-threatening breast cancer.
In conjunction with Pink October, Kelab Inner Wheel Parklands organised a Breast Cancer awareness hybrid talk and breast screening at the National Cancer Society Malaysia. Dr. Anita Binti Baghawi, Consultant Breast and Endocrine Surgeon, Hospital Putrajaya delivered her talk on “Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment” and Kelab Inner Wheel Parklands, incoming Charter President Dr. Theyveeka Selvy Rajoo, General Surgeon Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang had delivered her talk on “Community Breast Screening”. Two incoming Charter members from Kelab Inner Wheel Parklands:- Pn. Farah bt. Abdul Wahab and Ms Mahana shared their experience regarding Breast Cancer. More than 100 public and club members participated in this project and they had free clinical breast examination and Mammogram on 14th October 2023.
