Unboxed Happiness for 10 Deserving Families in Pendang, Kedah

Early Saturday morning on 28th October 2023, a convoy of IWC-AS team headed by Tunku Munirah, the President of IWC AS led the way from Alor Setar to Masjid Atta’awun, Kampung Ayer Puteh, Pendang. Although it was just 30 to 40 minutes away by car, we started early as we did not want to take any chances of being late to our momentuous event. Thankfully the weather was very accommodating that morning that made our journey smooth and pleasant.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Tuan Haji Abu Bakar, the Imam of Masjid Atta’awun and representatives of 10 deserving families who were anxiously waiting for us at the masjid’s compound. Obviously they were early, too.

The event started as scheduled at 11am with a recitation of du’a by the Imam of Masjid Atta’awun, followed by a heartwarming welcome speech from IWC-AS President. The guest of honor, En. Malek bin Ali a representative of District Officer (DO) of Pendang later delivered his speech and graced the event. Ten goodie boxes were delivered by En.Malek and Tuan Hj. Abu Bakar to the representatives of deserving families. The boxes were filled with essential food items that could last for a month or two in consumption. Even though the items were hardly enough to support them for a long time, but the looks on their faces were priceless when they received the boxes. Their sense of appreciation and gratitude were more overwhelming than their whispered thank you.

A humble and yet meaningful event came to an end with a simple packed lunch given to all the guests. Another milestone, another satisfactory day for IWC-AS for making 10 deserving families feel happy and cared for.
