Deepavali Cheer at Matang Jaya

IWCSS’s annual Deepavali cheer was in Matang Jaya on the 29th October this year. A group of children from families that struggled financially were the recipients of two large bags of groceries with specific foods chosen to enable them to celebrate Deepavali like everyone else.

The children were treated to a lovely lunch with biriyani rice, roti chanai, cabbage, sambar, pappadam and salad. Desserts and sweets were the highlight of the cheer. Home-made laddus by club secretary Shanthy , cakes by President and Dhevi, yummy jelebis, puddings, murukku and banana chips brought in by other members overflowed on the meal table. What they could not eat, the children happily packed to take home. Food was abundant and the mothers were thrilled to do takeaways. Members ate along with the children and their mothers in the true spirit of Deepavali. Rani had the kids squealing in delight with the games she had organised to add fun to the afternoon and the winners had prizes.

IWCSS always looks forward to this annual event. And the day always remains a happy memory for everyone.
