Pink Unity 6600 Breast-a-thon For the Malaysian Book of Records
Inner Wheel is an international women’s organisation to create friendship, service and understanding. The theme for 2023-2024 – is “Shine a Light”, STRONG WOMEN, STRONGER WORLD (WOMEN HELPING WOMEN). Inner Wheel clubs take part in a wide range of work for charities and courses across the country with the aim of helping women and young girls live better lives. One of the courses is breast cancer, which affects almost everyone no matter what walk of life they are from. It brings pain, anguish and poverty to millions of people each and every year. Fighting breast cancer and helping treat those affected is one of our priorities. Through our work, we endeavor to educate and prepare communities in order to help them prevent and treat life-changing and life-threatening breast cancer.
In conjunction with Pink October, Inner Wheel Club (IWC) Parklands led by Dr Theyveeka Selvy Rajoo, General Surgeon comes as Charter President of the respective club, joined hands with IWC Apsaras, IWC Bangsar, IWC Ipoh East and IWC Ioras, Ipoh organised Breast Cancer project, worked together with National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) and private clinics initiated breast cancer screenings across the states and provided assistance in operationalizing Pink Unity 6600 Breast-a-thou for the Malaysian Book of Records (MBOR).
The project commenced from 23th October 2023 till 4th November 2023. The total number screened for breast cancer was 6678. On 5th November 2023, the above mentioned clubs were awarded with a certificate of appreciation. Charter President IWC Parklands, Dr Theyveeka Selvy Rajoo, President IWC Ipoh East Kannaki Vellusamy and President IWC Ioras, Ipoh Ashvinder Kaur d/o Naranya Singh attended the closing ceremony of Pink Unity 6600: Breast-A-Thon at level 2, KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, to receive this honorable certificate, which has made Inner Wheel to shine light among various parties like government and non-government entities plus achieved the record for Malaysian Book of Records (MBOR).
