The Centennial Greeting

IIW requested clubs all over the world to produce a video greeting for the upcoming centennial in 2024. It was rather short notice, but a show of solidarity and enthusiasm among members was instant. Family and other commitments kept many members of IWC of Subang Selangor away but those who turned up wore their blue ‘Shine a light’ T-shirts and were all geared up to wish IIW a wonderful centennial on the 5th November 2023. The location was a Malaysian icon. Most of the ‘iconic’ spots in the Klang Valley are tourist hotspots and noise and crowds are always an issue. At last, it was decided that Muzium Negara would provide the members with a quieter option. It was not all that quiet either. But members like professional photographers identified a particular spot with a Minangkabau wooden structure as a backdrop with palm trees and blue skies as the perfect location. In no time a staff member of the museum was acting as videographer and members in high spirits belted out greeting after greeting. After countless ‘takes.’ and members in stitches the deed was done. With the sun blazing down, showing no mercy, the craziness rose up a notch. The centennial celebrations have begun on a happy and fun note!
