Infant Jesus Convent Christmas and Fellowship Lunch
Christmas is just around the corner. Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur hosted a Christmas Fellowship Lunch at the Infant Jesus Convent (IJC) on 26 November 2023 for the residents of the Convent, where retired Sisters, Nuns and Teachers reside. Most of the retired nuns are wheelchair-bound.
IWCKL members have been supporting the convent for more than 25 years. Every year, members of IWCKL donate cash, gifts, and food. This year the cash donation from members reached RM7,700.00, and we were also able to provide safety railings for the bathrooms in the convent.
There was a beautiful spread of food for everyone to enjoy, and lively entertainment from our ladies. IWCKL members dressed up as Santeríans, with dance choreographed by PP Lyn Wong to entertain the residents. PNR To’ Puan Lam Lee Pin led the singing of Christmas Carols accompanied by Ms Sothee Paul playing the piano most graciously.
PP Margaret Yee was the organiser of the Christmas Party, along with the assistance of members who also decorated the hall and dining room, as well as planned the entertainment and catering. What a lovely way to bring Christmas cheer to the nuns.
Vice President Lena Chua on behalf of IWCKL presented a cheque to Sister Stephanie, Sister in Charge. VP Lena Chua gave a speech thanking IJC for allowing IWCKL to provide the Christmas Lunch and Fellowship.
PP & PDISO Foong Pack was in charge of F&B. Lunch was served, with IWCKL Members serving the retired Nuns and Sisters with delicious food and desserts at the table. PP Lyn Wong gave Angpows to the nuns, and Cindy Ching also gave face towels to the nuns. Members served the nuns with the wonderful spread of food, then joined them to enjoy good fellowship and lively conversation. The nuns thoroughly enjoyed the event, bringing on warm smiles and much laughter to begin the Christmas Season.
