IWC Penang’s 15th Anniversary and Installation
A dual celebration marked a memorable night for IWC Penang as the club observed the club’s 15th anniversary and witnessed the installation of Mdm. Daljit Kaur Gill as president for the second time. The event unfolded at Courtyard by Marriott on November 26, 2023, with a turnout of about 60 attendees. District Extension Chairman Shanti Menon graced the occasion as the guest of honour, alongside other distinguished guests, including PNR Parimala Satheesan, IIWPBD Datin Seetha Lakshmi, DE Lucy Barrock, and Dr. Amreet, the President of the Rotary Club of Penang.
The role of Master of the Ceremony was skilfully undertaken by District Secretary Jillian Estrop, injecting humour and light-hearted banter into the atmosphere, creating a delightful setting for the celebration. In a bid to inspire the younger generation, the band “On Curfew” and the talented 14-year-old Natalie from JB provided entertainment for the guests. Natalie, daughter of IWC JB’s President Amy Nair, added vibrancy to the night with two songs from the oldies.
The celebration reached a crescendo with IWC JB’s dance performance, elevating the festive spirit. District Extension Chairman Shanti Menon offered a toast to commemorate IWC Penang’s 15th year of existence after a brief speech. A game titled “The Chinese Whisperer,” involving the transmission of messages through body language, added a touch of amusement, with IWC JB emerging as the game’s winner.
The event also featured a slideshow showcasing the 15 past presidents of the club, with each receiving a token of appreciation for dedicated service. The cake-cutting ceremony, involving club members and esteemed guests, marked the pinnacle of the 15th-anniversary celebration. The band “On Curfew” continued to entertain the audience, ensuring the night of celebration and fellowship remained truly memorable. The combination of music, camaraderie, and participation from sister clubs contributed to the overall success of this special occasion for IWC Penang.
