Environment-friendly project
IWC Butterworth with President Shanthi Shanmugam at its helm, embarked on an environment-friendly project on Saturday, 16th December 2023. President Shanthi who is with the Committee of the Neighbourhood Association (Rukun Tetangga) of the Taman Bukit housing estate in Bukit Mertajam, successfully sought collaboration to start sourcing used cooking oil from her neighbours and other residents of the housing estate and selling to Fat Hopes Energy.
The company buys the used oil and processes it into biodiesel thereby preventing such oils from adding to environmental contamination. President Shanthi plans to enhance publicity for the project so Fat Hopes Energy could send its personnel to buy the used cooking oil periodically. She also plans to engage with other neighbourhood committees through IWC Butterworth’s members to bring about awareness of this sustainable and environment-friendly project in Inner Wheel’s 100th Anniversary term of 2023-2024.
