Webinar on: Be empowered, let’s reduce the risk of Developing Dementia

The Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth on Saturday, 3rd February 2024, collaborated with healthcare provider Bagan Specialist Centre to organise an online talk on Dementia, a common mental health affliction among the elderly. The speaker was Gerontologist Dr Cecilia Chan and the talk was moderated by IWC Butterworth’s Secretary Dr Lalitha Ramasamy.

Dr Cecilia’s talk was well attended with participants reaching two hundred and eleven at one stage. She touched on diagnoses of the illness, probable causes, wellness advice and recognising of the symptoms as well as management of patients.

There was also enthusiastic interaction during the Q&A session that followed. IWC Butterworth’s President Shanthi Shanmugam in her address mentioned that the club had embraced International Inner Wheel’s focus on mental health for its centennial year and hoped to arrange more such community service initiatives.
