Deepavali Project – Computers for Boys’ Home

On 24 April 2024, nine members of the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) wearing canary yellow T-shirts displaying the Inner Wheel logo and badges kicked off the Deepavali Project. Deepavali or Diwali is the “festival of lights”, it marks the new beginning and the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness. IWCKL donated four brand new HP personal computers complete with ready-to-use software to the Sivananda Home in Batu Caves.

Sivananda Home (named after its founder and spiritual Master H.H. Swami Sivananda Saraswati Maharaj) is a home for male minors with a full capacity of hosting 40 male minors of Indian descent. The home is very clean and organized. In continuing its efforts for “Selfless Service”, the Home has a sick bay with a visiting doctor on a weekly basis. It also has a prayer room and a computer laboratory. Once a week an IT expert will come in to teach the residents.

IWCKL President Rani presented the personal computers which were happily received by Mr Mankiam, the CEO of the Home. Members of the IWCKL were served tea and jemput pisang after the presentation of the personal computers. Datin Retna, from IWCKL brought some muruku as tea snacks.

IWCKL ladies were very happy to lend their support to this very meaningful Project, and in the same vein keeping the light shining, bringing hope, cheer, and joy to those in need, and empowering lives.
