The Inner Wheel Club Kuala Lumpur marks 76th installation in grand style
The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur marked its 76th anniversary with a spectacular Installation Dinner on 6th July at the Banquet Hall at The Royal Lake Club in Kuala Lumpur. The event was a resounding success, drawing a crowd of 180 attendees, including the esteemed presence of the Guest of Honour, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Dato’ Seri Hjh Dr. Aishah Ong, District Chairman Mdm Vimalavathi, National Representative Mdm Shanti Menon, and International Inner Wheel Board Director Juanita Lee (member of IWC KL). Ten clubs from District 330 were represented, and the occasion was further graced by guests from the Rotary Club KL Diraja, led by their President, Dr. Alaric Nathan.
After the correct protocol was observed, the captivating Mari Gelek Gelek performance ensued. The whole hall was a burst of colours with guests merrily twirling the scarves provided by our ladies and dancing to the beat of the catchy Nyonya number. What a sight!
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Installation Ceremony. Outgoing President Rani Gurmit delivered a heartfelt farewell speech, paving the way for the installation of the new President, Lena Chua. In her inaugural address, President Lena unveiled her Presidential Project – a continuation of the H Water Project. This life-changing initiative aims to construct freshwater wells for more Orang Asli villages in Pahang, addressing the critical issue of clean water access for these marginalised communities. President Lena’s commitment to uplifting the lives of these people is truly commendable.
The evening continued with the introduction of President Lena’s dynamic Executive Committee, followed by a mesmerising Demi Cinta Nyonya dance, by the IWCKL ladies. The night continued with the crowd joining in the lively dance party featuring a talented band from Melaka.
President Lena who was also the Organising Chairperson of this event, extended her heartfelt gratitude to all who had made this event a resounding success, and also to all donors who had donated generously in conjunction with the Installation Dinner.
