Celebration of the bestowal of the Margarette Golding Award with IWC Alor Star
Nine members of the Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth carpooled in two vehicles to celebrate with sister club IWC Alor Setar the bestowal of the Margarette Golding award on Her Highness Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Binti Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Tunku Temenggong Kedah.
The ladies, many of whom were meeting a real life princess for the first time, excitedly got dressed and arrived way ahead of time at Hotel Alora, Alor Setar so as not to break royal protocol. The event which took place on Saturday, 27th July 2024 was very well organised and the lovely ladies of IWC Alor Setar left no stone unturned as gracious hosts.
As with any Inner Wheel event, there was much camaraderie and lots of photo opportunities as Inner Wheel members exchanged hugs and posed together. The vegetarians were pleasantly surprised at the wide selection of food available to them.
The drive back home though somewhat treacherous given the rural roads and the attendant problems of driving at night was bearable in good company. The ladies were impressed by their sister club’s efforts and the exemplary dedication to duty that IWC Alor Setar showed.
The royal princess wowed everyone with her achievements and her friendly demeanor. She obviously is a deserving recipient of the prestigious award and is an extraordinary and exemplary yet humble as well as capable woman-leader.
It was an enjoyable evening for everyone and a trip well worth the effort. IWC Butterworth’s members with President Shanthi Shanmugam at the helm are now forging friendships with sister clubs as never before.
