New chater and new member
NEW CHAPTER
The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) on 1st August 2024 hosted a captivating book launch event featuring the memoirs of PP Tan Siew Leng, entitled “Here and Then Gone? Incredible - Stories from the Mines”. The book offers a fascinating window into the lives of those who had lived and worked in the tin mine era. The memoir provides a heartfelt and often humorous account of her life as the wife of an employee of the tin mining company. Readers are transported back in time to a world of hard work, resilience, and the vibrant tapestry of life in a tin mine community. The book delves into the challenges and joys of everyday life, as well as the gossips and intrigue that characterized the era.
The launch event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including IWCKL members, and was officially launched by Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Abdul Samad Alias, former Director of the Malaysian Mining Corporation, who is also a personal friend to the author and her family.
The highlight of the event was the announcement that all proceeds from the sale of books, priced at RM40 each, will be donated to the Charity Account of IWCKL.
NEW MEMBER
IWCKL is thrilled to announce the induction of its newest member, the esteemed Ms Irene Yap. Her entry into the club marks a significant milestone, bringing a wealth of experience, connections, and a shared history with a beloved member.
Ms Irene and our own ISO Pang Yoke Ling share a remarkable bond, having been classmates since their primary school days at St Mary’s Kuala Lumpur. This enduring friendship has undoubtedly enriched their lives and now promises to add a special dimension to their shared journey within IWCKL.
IWCKL warmly welcomes Ms Irene into the fold, and look forward to the many contributions she will undoubtedly make to IWCKL.
