Friendship Day Celebration 2024
When members met for their first meeting for the new term on 24th July, with President Rani Mohan at the helm, among the many new and reinforced values highlighted to be implemented was fellowship among members. Immediately it was suggested that the members have an outdoor activity to celebrate Friendship Day. A committee was formed with Exco Member Dr Krishnaveni taking charge. Within a week she and her team had come up with a programme to get all attending members of various age groups involved. The venue was recced and area selected.
On 3rd August 2024, members who could join in the outdoor programme assembled at Bukit Jalil Recreation Park at 7.00am. 12 members, dressed in their white Club tee shirts and President Rani’s husband, Mohan, a Rotarian himself, and daughter, Dr Deivina, eagerly awaited Pres Rani to kickstart the programme.
It was a morning to nourish and remember. PCC Rajani led the group through a series of processes to set the mood right from start. From contemplative breathing to simple stretching all the while focusing on being grateful. Gratitude to the Universe from waking up that morning, to being in the Park with caring friends, to the environment around us and the opportunities given. New member Indrani took the members through stretching exercises to warm up which prepared them for a relaxed walk around the park. Next, was member Shamala Bhaskaran and organiser Dr Krishnaveni led through 2 challenging games. So much laughter and cheering like girls back at school. It was truly a Friendship Day to be grateful for. Friendship bracelets were exchanged among fellow members to commemorate the experience.
But no event ends without the comfort rendered by food. The members adjourned to a nearby restaurant in Bukit Jalil for some local delights like Curry Laksa, Wanton noodles, Kaya Toast, Chee Cheong Fan and drinks. Then parted with gratitude hearts for a beautiful sunny day and the love and friendship shared that morning. Hugs and wishes to keep the Candle of Friendship and love burning.
