A Night To Remember: Inner Wheel Club Of Alor Setar’s 3-In-1 Celebration
On the evening of 29 August 2024, the Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar (IWC AS) gathered at the Royale Signature Hotel for a special 3-in-1 celebration. This unique event combined District Chairman Vimala’s official visit, the Club’s second meeting, and the installation of the 2024-25 Executive Committee - all wrapped up in a delightful hi-tea.
Following the grand Margarette Golding Award dinner just a month earlier, this gathering was intentionally kept more intimate. However, its smaller scale was more than made up for by the meaningful presence of District Chairman Vimala, District Secretary Lucy Barrock, and 13 esteemed guests, who brought a special sense of warmth and connection to the occasion.
The evening began with the Club’s second meeting, attentively observed by both District Chairman Vimala and District Secretary Lucy. After a productive session, members transitioned into the ExCo Installation Ceremony. Outgoing President Tunku Munirah delivered a heartfelt thank-you address, acknowledging her 2023-2024 team’s dedication. She then passed the President’s collarette to Rosni Bakar, who in turn presented appointment scrolls to each member of the 2024-25 Executive Committee.
In her inaugural speech, President Rosni outlined an inspiring vision for the coming year, aligned with the Inner Wheel theme, “Heartbeat of Humanity - Every Beat Counts, Every Action Matters.” Her passionate words resonated deeply with those in attendance, setting a hopeful and energized tone for the new term.
District Chairman Vimala took the stage next, expressing her pride in the IWC AS’s remarkable progress over the past six years. She praised the Club’s outstanding achievements and encouraged them to continue their growth, suggesting that their tagline should evolve from “Doing Small Things in a Great Way” to “Doing Great Things in a Greater Way”.
To close the evening, Charter President Padmini offered a heartfelt ode to the Club:
Fourth November ‘18, our journey began,
A vision chartered, a heartfelt plan.
21st November ‘18, we took our stand,
Doing small things with a mighty hand.
With Padmini at the helm, we set our course,
Guided by leaders, a dedicated force.
TM, Pavi, TZ, and Rosni too,
Presidents with a vision, so strong and true.
We helped the needy, with love and care,
Small acts of kindness, spreading everywhere.
Our greatest pride, an award so grand,
For Tunku Puteri, a beacon in our land.
With IIW and District’s embrace,
We forged friendships, with challenges faced.
Steadfast as Jerai, standing majestic and free,
Resilient as the eagle, soaring over the sea.
In Alor Setar, our legacy shines bright,
A tapestry of service, woven with light.
Doing small things in a great way,
Inner Wheel’s spirit, come what may.
Though smaller in scale, the 3-in-1 event radiated with warmth, camaraderie, and a renewed commitment to making a meaningful impact in the community. It was a memorable evening that celebrated the spirit of unity and purpose within the Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar.
