District 330 members attend Goonj South Zone Clubs Meet
The Goonj South Zone Meet 2024 began on 20.9.24 at the prestigious Reena Mitra Hall in Thanjavur Tamil Nadu. District 298 played host to this grand gathering, bringing together members from across South Zone districts and as special guests, President K. Vijayalaxmi from IWC of Taiping and PP Tangamalar from IWC of Ipoh, District 330, Malaysia.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Association President Sunitha Jain, whose inspiring address set the tone for the meet. Guests of honour included Association Secretary Urvasi Mittal and IIW CCC Chairman, Patricia Hilton, PIIWP Kamala Ramakrishnan and Association CCC Chairman Alaghu Anamalai. Guest Speaker Dr.Thamilazhi Thangapadian , Member of Parliament, South Chennai gave an inspiring speech on women empowerment.
In the afternoon, Sarees On Wheels, a rally in support of violence against women was held. This was reported in the local news.
The evening session of the Goonj South Zone Meet on 20.9.24 (evening) was a glamorous celebration of Indian wedding traditions set against a backdrop of vintage and retro fashion. Attendees dressed as iconic divas from the 60s, 70s and 80s showcased their style in a highly anticipated Ramp Walk.
Cultural performances highlighted the diverse wedding customs from across India, bringing nostalgia and joy to the event.The evening fostered fellowship with members bonding over shared memories and the vibrant spirit of the meet, making it a truly memorable affair.
