An Evening With Inner Wheel Club Of Wandin, Australia
ISO Shantha and Secretary Padmini of the Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar (IWCAS), embarked on a holiday in Melbourne from 6 to 23 October 2024. Before leaving home, the duo had reached out to the Inner Wheel Club of Wandin, located near where they were staying, hoping for a simple bannerette exchange. Little did they know, it would become one of the highlights of their trip.
Secretary Anne of IWC Wandin replied to the email request, and extended an invitation to attend their meeting with dinner on 15 October at the Rose Cottage in Monbulk.
Upon their arrival, they were greeted with open arms. The members of IWC of Wandin were incredibly warm, making Shan and Padmini feel right at home. President Val then conducted the meeting, after which one member gave an introduction to the area, sharing the charm and history of the region. Padmini then followed by giving a brief overview of District 330, and IWCAS, highlighting Club projects and community work back in Malaysia.
As the evening progressed, everyone enjoyed a sumptuous dinner during which time, the members of Wandin interacted with warmth, making the duo feel so much at home. After dinner, ISO Shan presented IWC AS’ bannerette - a symbolic gesture, and yet it felt so significant – a true representation of the ideals of International Inner Wheel, fostering friendship and understanding across borders.
Each member was then presented with a lovely bracelet from Malaysia, a small token of appreciation for their warmth and hospitality. In return, President Val presented a gift to both Shan and Padmini.
As more stories were shared, it became clear that despite the distance members were united in a common mission and spirit. The bonds forged that evening transcended geographical borders and culture, embodying the very essence of Inner Wheel.
That night was more than just a meeting – it was a celebration of international understanding and friendship. Thank you ever so much, IWC of Wandin. IWC AS hopes to welcome you to Malaysia.
