Attending the Poto Fundrasing Charity Dinner
The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) recently participated in the Inner Wheel Club Pearl of the Orient Penang’s (POTO) fundraising charity dinner themed “Bollywood Magic” on Saturday 30th November 2024. This event was a resounding success, raising funds for a noble cause, providing 90 wheelchairs and 10 geriatric chairs to hospitals in Penang.
A dedicated team of four IWCKL members, namely IIWBD Juanita Lee, PDISO Foong Pack, Treasurer Datin Brenda and Club Correspondent Sharon embarked on a road trip from Kuala Lumpur to Penang on Saturday morning. After a sumptuous Nyonya lunch at Winn’s Café and biscuit shopping at the famous biscuit shops, they checked into their hotel and prepared for the evening’s festivities.
Dressed in dazzling attire to match the Bollywood theme, the IWCKL members joined the dinner at Palace D’India. The event was filled with entertainment, including a captivating group dance performance by POTO members to the tune of APT. The evening also featured a poignant poem and a meaningful skit on Orange the World (OTW), a global campaign to end violence against women and girls.
The event was graced by the presence of DC Vimala and NR Shanti, who witnessed the incredible efforts of the Inner Wheel Clubs in supporting this worthy cause. A delectable Indian buffet dinner was followed by exciting lucky draws, where our very own Foong Pack, won the top prize. The evening concluded with dancing and fellowship among members from various clubs, creating a vibrant and joyous atmosphere.
On Sunday morning, the four IWCKL members enjoyed a hearty local breakfast and enjoyed coffee and pastries at the charming Emily Darling Café, stopping by at the new George Hotel for a short tour of the hotel with impressive customer service from their front desk. Before returning to Kuala Lumpur, they took a detour to Ipoh for some retail therapy. Despite facing heavy traffic on their journey back, the four members arrived home safely, fulfilled by their contribution to a worthy cause.
