Penang Goes Orange


The Inner Wheel Club of Butterworth took part in the statewide gathering of the strategic partners of the ‘Penang Goes Orange’ campaign on Saturday, 7th December 2024. Four members of the club namely President Shanthi Shanmugam, Inner Wheel District 330’s Secretary Lucy Barrock, Past Club Secretary Dr Lalitha Ramasamy and Committee member Rathiga Kathervallo Pellai were in attendance at the function held at the UiTM Campus in Permatang Pauh, Penang.

The gathering was well attended and organised by the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC)with eminent speakers from the state government and experts from educational institutions, the Police and NGOs such as the Women’s Centre for Change taking to the podium. The theme this year was ’Swipe 2 Stop’ relating to cyber bullying which many a time ends in violence and even deaths.

IWC Butterworth was given a Certificate of Appreciation as a strategic partner in the initiative and the ladies enjoyed the sumptuous lunch which followed. Several buildings have been lit orange in support of the campaign.

IWC Butterworth has been observing the Orange Month celebrations for five years now and has also enthusiastically embraced International Inner Wheel’s ‘Orange the World’ campaign this term.
