IWCKL Visit To Gurpuri Foundation For Vaisaki Project
At 3pm ,Sunday, 8 June,2025 saw 7 members of the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) making their way to the Gurpuri Foundation in Jln Ulu Kelang to complete their Vaisakhi Project. Our Honorary Member, YAB Toh Puan Hjh. Dr. Aishah Ong was only too happy to lead our little ‘delegation’, and we were warmly greeted by the Founder himself, Mr Sukhdaiv Singh Ji, and the children.
An organisation which sees to the underprivileged children and youths to ensure they blossom into responsible, upstanding adults, the Foundation now houses about 47 of them. A six- storied building complete with separate dormitories, study rooms, a music room, a futsal- cum- badminton court ; what is commendable is how clean, uncluttered the place is, how happy the children looked.
Bearing gifts of 2 Washing machines, 10 each of pillows, blankets, bed sheets, mattresses, cleaning implements (mops, brooms, dustpans) correction tapes (for their studies), stainless steel cutlery (200 forks and spoons, 100 cups, plates). All as per requested and IWCKL was only too happy to oblige.
Mr Sukhdaiv Singh, in his speech of thanks highlighted the long relationship and friendship forged between Gurpuri and IWCKL, and by extension too the close ties Toh Puan Aishah has with the Foundation. Toh Puan in her speech, stressed that for their noble objectives, she is ever happy to give a helping hand.
All the residents and our members were then fêted to a lovely tea of vegetarian delights, compliments of IWCKL, with the likes of vegetarian pizza, nasi lemak, pasta and other finger foods. Long, leisurely chat on a beautiful balmy afternoon.
Once again, thank you for a Project so well-executed by Coordinator Balvinder, and assisted by PP Serjit and Datin Jangir. And to all our members, this would not have been possible without your generosity of spirit in bringing some warm cheer to these underprivileged children.
