A Day of Heartfelt Connection: IWCKL Visits Kajang Women’s Prison!
The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) experienced a truly impactful day on Thursday, June 26, 2025, as the members embarked on a special visit to the Kajang Women’s Prison, organised by our Muslim members, where we witnessed first-hand the transformative power of rehabilitation and shared moments of genuine connection.
The mission was clear: to provide essential support that directly benefits the women within the prison walls, aiding them on their journey toward a brighter future. IWCKL believes that every individual deserves a chance at rehabilitation and reintegration into society, and our contributions aimed to make a tangible difference in their daily lives.
The delegation alongside the esteemed Honorary Member YABhg Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong and seventeen IWCKL members, received an incredibly warm welcome. Prison Superintendent Puan Mona Azura binti Ismail and Deputy Superintendent Puan Nanthini a/p Balakrishnan greeted us with sandwiches, cakes and cold cordial preparing for a hot day ahead, setting the tone for a truly insightful visit.
After a thorough safety briefing, the journey began at the Registrar’s Office, where we gained a deeper understanding of the admission and release processes. But the true heart of our visit awaited at Blok Cahaya. Stepping into Taska Cinta Care was a truly moving experience. Seeing the children of the women living within the prison, IWCKL was delighted to donate essential supplies, knowing our contributions would bring comfort and support to these young, innocent lives.
The tour continued through the various skills training workshops – from the intricate work of the Tailoring Workshop to the practical skills honed in the Laundry Workshop, Amanah Workshop, Frozen Food Workshop, Pastry Workshop, and the elegant offerings of the SPA & Salon. Each workshop was a testament to the prison’s commitment to equipping these women with valuable skills for their future. We were particularly impressed by the Kajang Women’s Integrity School (SIWK), which provides crucial educational opportunities to younger individuals, nurturing their potential for a new beginning.
The visit culminated in an unforgettable display of talent by the women of Kajang Women’s Prison inmates. Their heartfelt performance of song and dance were not just an exhibition of their artistic abilities but a powerful testament to the success of the rehabilitation programs in place. Their spirit and resilience shone brightly, leaving a lasting impression on all of us.
As President Lena signed the Guest Book and formally presented our contributions and a token of appreciation from IWCKL, our commitment to supporting and empowering women in our community was stronger than ever. The Kajang Women’s Prison is doing remarkable work, fostering hope and providing pathways to a better future. IWCKL is proud to stand with them, and we eagerly anticipate future collaborations as we continue our shared mission of making a positive difference in the lives of women.
