National Council of Women’s Organisation
National Women’s Day celebrated on 25 August annually is an important date in the National Council of Women’s Organisation ( NCWO)’s calendar. On Sunday, 24 August,NCWO held a grand 64th Women’s Day celebration at Merdeka Hall,World Trade Centre,KL.
This occasion was graced with the presence of Her Majesty, the Raja Permaisuri Agung,Raja Zarith Sofiah. Other dignitaries in attendance include the Prime Minister’s wife, the Minister of Women,Family and Community Development,DewanBandaraya Mayor and Toh Puan Dato Seri Dr Aishah Ong.
The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur,an affiliate of NCWO was honoured to be invited to perform a dance item during the High -Tea. To the upbeat ,catchy music of “Tarian Lemak Manis”, the troupe of 5 ladies, helmed by our NCWO rep, YM Tunku Maziah, and choreographed by her daughter,Pn Anita Kushairy, resolved to do their best and make the club proud . Despite the short notice and only 5 practices, we were relieved everything went like clockwork. The organisers too saw it fit to have a short caption of IWCKL emblazoned on the event wall backdrop.
The highlight of our tea was surely when Her Majesty obliged to our request to have a photograph with her.
In Her Royal Address , her Majesty highlighted the importance of this year’s theme, “Valuing Women in Nation Building”.
IWCKL would like to record her appreciation to our Honorary Member, YAB Toh Puan Dr. Aishah for sponsoring our table.
