Ability Shines Beyond Boundaries- Celebrating Inclusion Through Sports For The visually Challenged


The Inner Wheel Club of Selangor (IWCS), Malaysia, proudly supported the Malaysian Blind Sports Association (MABSA) Sports Carnival in August 2025 through sponsorship and volunteer involvement. Held at the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) event hall and Bukit Kiara Sports Club, Kuala Lumpur. The carnival brought together visually challenged athletes, volunteers, and partner organizations in a meaningful celebration of inclusion, resilience, and sporting excellence.

Athletes from across Malaysia competed in events such as showdown and lawn bowls, demonstrating teamwork, determination, and remarkable skill. The carnival reflected true inclusivity, with mixed-gender participation in teams, showcasing equality in action and the power of sport to unite communities.

MABSA athletes represented Malaysia on international platforms, including the IBSA World Games in Birmingham (2023). Yet, financial limitations remain a challenge in enabling more athletes to compete globally, underscoring the importance of sustained community and organizational support.

A memorable highlight was the prize-giving ceremony at Bukit Kiara Sports Club, where IWCS President Santha K. Jeevamany attended as Guest of Honour, celebrating the athletes’ inspiring achievements and perseverance. The experience left a lasting impression- one of gratitude, admiration and renewed commitment to support initiatives that uplift lives and celebrate strength of the human spirit.

This meaningful collaboration reinforced the message that inclusiveness strengthens communities, diversity enriches society, and when opportunity is given, ability truly shines beyond boundaries.
